More on Vicki: Vicki Burns has been performing steadily almost since the moment she arrived in New York from San Francisco in 2009. Performance highlights include sold out shows at Birdland, The Iridium, Zinc Bar, Mezzrow and Cornelia Street Cafe and a special six month stint at The Plaza Hotel. She has had residencies at Jazz at Kitano and is currently singing bi-monthly at The Lexington Hotel. Last summer she had sold out performances and standing ovations on a California tour of the Bay Area including at the Sound Room in Oakland. Vicki has recently recorded a critically acclaimed album, “Lotus Blossom Days" which features original music and rarely sung gems from the Great American Song Book. As a vocal jazz educator, Vicki has been teaching for 11 years at The 92NY School of Music. She recently performed at her first faculty recital there to a standing ovation and a rave review of the performance by Rob Lester: . “Vicki Burns’s voice is a warm, clear, rich one, especially strong and resonant in mid-range and low notes... She doesn’t take easy paths, opting for some challenging musical architectures and tricky tempi. A true jazz performer, she nimbly navigates the leaps and bounds of the musical lines, crisply delivering the words or (often) scat-singing." -Rob Lester, Broadway World, November 8th, 2024 As of September 2024, Vicki has joined the JCM Vocal Dept at Syracuse University as an adjunct professor. where she currently has a roster of 15 Jazz vocal students. Jazz great Max Roach has described Vicki's voice as a gold mine and Bassist Christian McBride has called her "A Wonderful Singer”
