Details & Information
Claudia will sing a few songs for us live. Then we'll hear three volunteer singers perform and she'll give them feedback or discuss topics they're interested in. You can sing or just watch! Claudia Acuña is a Chilean-born jazz vocalist known for her emotive voice and deep connection to Latin American music. After making a dynamic debut on the New York jazz scene in the 1990s and releasing five albums as a leader, she took a break to focus on motherhood and personal growth. In 2019, Acuña returned with the Latin Grammy-nominated album Turning Pages, symbolizing her creative rebirth. During the pandemic, she fulfilled a long-time dream by recording DUO, an intimate duets album featuring top musicians like Fred Hersch and Christian McBride. The album showcases songs from Chile, Cuba, Argentina, Mexico, and a piece by Chick Corea, reflecting Acuña's dedication to her cultural roots and artistic evolution. Over her career, she has worked with jazz luminaries such as Jason Lindner, Branford Marsalis, and Arturo O'Farrill, and remains a highly respected figure in the global jazz community.
